Fencer Pauline Brunner is eliminated in the sixteenth finals in Paris. The 29-year-old was defeated 11:12 after extra time by American Hadley Husisian in the Olympic epee competition.
In a battle that seesawed back and forth, Brunner got off to the better start and led 4:2 after the first of three rounds. The second round went to Husisian by the same score. The player from western Switzerland saved herself with a goal 27 seconds before the end of extra time. The 2023 World Championship runner-up conceded the decisive goal after 16 seconds.
