Crime Robbery with baseball bat and machete in Biel/Bienne

Two unknown men armed with a baseball bat and a machete robbed two men in Biel on Sunday night. One of the perpetrators attacked his victim with the baseball bat and injured him.

This man had to be taken to hospital by ambulance, as the regional public prosecutor's office and the Bern cantonal police announced on Sunday. The second man was uninjured and was taken to a police station for further investigation.

According to the information available so far, the two men were walking along Bubenbergstrasse when they were asked for cigarettes from a car by three strangers. A short time later, the car stopped and two of the occupants approached the two pedestrians.

During their robbery, the two perpetrators stole a wristwatch, a rucksack, two wallets and shoes and then fled back to the parked car. The police have issued an appeal for witnesses.
