Central Switzerland Explosion in Sursee hurls silo lid over 70 meters

A raw material silo exploded in the Sursee industrial area on Thursday morning. The explosion caused the silo lid to be thrown 70 meters onto an adjacent building belonging to the same company. No one was injured.

The silo in question was used to store building plaster, as reported by the Lucerne cantonal police on Thursday. The explosion contaminated the surrounding area with gypsum dust particles. It is still unclear why the explosion occurred. The investigation is ongoing.
