Fire Fire in commercial area of Strengelbach AG broke out in nightclub

The fire reported by the Alertswiss warning service on Monday morning in an industrial estate near Strengelbach broke out in a nightclub. The establishment, which was closed at the time of the fire, was completely devastated, according to the Aargau cantonal police after midday.

The damage to property could not yet be quantified. The thick smoke had spread throughout the extensive building on the Bleiche site. It is still unclear how much damage has been caused to the businesses housed there, the police write.

The Aargau cantonal police are now investigating how a fire was able to break out in the restaurant, which was closed for the vacations.

Due to the heavy smoke development, residents were called upon via the Alertswiss warning service to close windows and doors and switch off ventilation and air conditioning systems. Once the fire was under control, the all-clear was given after 7.30 am.
