Animal world Oldest sea lion Robia passes away at Basel Zoo

Basel Zoo is mourning the loss of senior sea lioness Robia. The mother of five young animals died of natural causes on Sunday at the age of 30, as Basel Zoo announced on social media on Wednesday.

A necropsy revealed a tumor-like change in the abdomen, it added. According to the statement, Robia, who was born at Basel Zoo, had had difficulties with her eyes for some time and therefore received regular medical care and treatment.

The three sea lions Ukiah (27), Kelsey (11) and Leona (10) were left behind, it added.
