The cantons of Uri, Zug and Schwyz have launched their joint "Climate-Friendly Agriculture" project. One of the aims is to strengthen their resilience to the negative effects of climate change.

This is to be achieved, among other things, by building up knowledge, as the project team announced on Wednesday. The topic of adapting to climate change and reducing greenhouse gases is to be addressed in courses and further training. At the same time, farmers are to be supported in trying out innovative cultivation methods.

For the project, the cantons are looking for 30 to 35 pilot farms that want to deepen their knowledge and also try out their own ideas in the area of climate protection, according to the statement. The farms will receive expert support in developing and implementing their ideas. For example, measures in the areas of water management or adapted crops.

The project is set to run for three years and is limited until the end of 2027. Information events will be held in Zug on August 13 and in Uri and Schwyz on August 21.
