No time? blue Sport summarizes for you
- There are more medal decisions to be made at the Olympic Games on Wednesday.
- Noè Ponti wants to swim to precious metal in the 200 meter dolphin, the men's and women's double sculls will be rowing for a medal.
- At the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the beach volleyball players will be in action. The Brunner/Hüberli duo will face Ludwig/Lippmann from Germany, while Böbner/Vergé-Dépré will have to take on the Canadians Humana-Paredes/Wilkerson.
Swimming: Noè Ponti will be aiming for a medal on Wednesday. The swimmer from Ticino has qualified for the final in the 200-meter dolphin. There he wants to repeat what he achieved exactly three years ago to the day in Tokyo at his Olympic Games finals debut. Back then, the 23-year-old stunned everyone by winning the bronze medal in the 100-meter dolphin, his showpiece discipline. Ponti will probably have to improve on the Swiss record he set on Tuesday if he is to make it onto the podium again. At 8.35 p.m. he will be in the Paris swimming pool in earnest.
Rowing: Four Swiss boats will be in action on Wednesday. Both double sculls will be rowing for medals. The men's quadruple sculls with coxswain Maurin Lange, Scott Bärlocher, Jonah Plock and Dominic Condrau reached the Olympic final for the first time since 2000. The Swiss women with Lisa Lötscher, Pascale Walker, Célia Dupré and Fabienne Schweizer did the same via the hopeful run. In addition, in the semi-finals in the double sculls, the medal contenders Roman Röösli/Andrin Gulich will have to show whether they have put their slip-up in the preliminary heats, when they were relegated to the hope heat, behind them. Raphaël Ahumada/Jan Schäuble will also contest the semi-finals in the lightweight double sculls.
Triathlon: The triathletes will make their next attempt after the men's race was postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday due to the water quality of the Seine. Two Swiss men, 29-year-old Adrien Briffod from French-speaking Switzerland and 28-year-old Max Studer from Solothurn, will be competing in the triathlon, which starts at 10.30 am. The 27-year-old Julie Derron from Zurich and the 22-year-old Cathia Schär from western Switzerland are due to start the women's race at 8 am. Julie Derron, the 2021 world champion, has the best chance of winning a medal.
Canoeing: After clearly missing out on the final of the top eight in the single kayak, Alena Marx wants to do better in the single canoe. To do so, however, she needs to improve her performance in the Olympic whitewater channel in Vaires-sur-Marne. The 23-year-old from Bern only finished the heats in 16th place.
Artistic gymnastics: The all-around final of the artistic gymnasts begins at 5.30 pm at the Palais Omnisports in Bercy. With 19-year-old Matteo Giubellini, the son of former European parallel bars champion Daniel Giubellini, and 21-year-old Florian Langenegger, two Swiss gymnasts made it into the top 24 who are allowed to compete in the final. Giubellini finished in 12th place after qualifying. A place in the top 15 would be a great success for him.
Beach volleyball: After a successful start on Sunday with a commanding two-set victory, the two Swiss beach volleyball duos want to go one better at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. The European champions Nina Brunner/Tanja Hüberli will face Germany's Laura Ludwig/Louisa Lippmann in their second of three group matches. After their successful Olympic debut, Esmée Böbner/Zoé Vergé-Dépré will face the Canadian group favorites Melissa Humana-Paredes/Brandie Wilkerson later in the evening.
