The whole of Switzerland is hoping for the so-called ketchup effect with the still goalless winger Dan Ndoye: first nothing for a long time, then suddenly everything. Preferably tonight against Germany.

No time? blue Sport summarizes for you

  • On the one hand, national team winger Dan Ndoye inspires the whole of Switzerland with his power and pacey dribbles, but on the other hand he annoys everyone with his lack of efficiency in front of goal.
  • blue Sport expert Ciriaco Sforza believes that Ndoye's knot will be untied at this European Championship and compares the 23-year-old to World Cup record goalscorer Miroslav Klose and Egyptian world star Mo Salah.

Although Dan Ndoye missed two top chances against Scotland, blue Sport expert Ciriaco Sforza raves about the Bologna mercenary's performance: "For me, Dan Ndoye showed a very good game. He creates chances and keeps the opposition busy. He is very unpredictable, is strong in one-on-one situations, is very quick and technically strong. Ndoye has huge potential and we will have a lot of fun with him in the future."

However, he still lacks efficiency. The last pass is often too hasty, too imprecise and he misses the best opportunities. He did score once against Scotland, but unfortunately he was just offside.

A lack of efficiency is reflected in too few goals. Ndoye already had this shortcoming years ago at Lausanne, then at FC Basel and this season at Bologna in Serie A. Can you learn efficiency? Sforza: "Yes, if you keep working hard on yourself. Then one day it will 'click'."

Dan Ndoye: Great performances so far, but still without a goal.

"Ndoye's button will still open at the European Championship"

Sforza cites famous examples. "Miroslav Klose played with me at Kaiserslautern. Many people said at the time: "What do you want with him? He can only head the ball and can't play football." Klose, now 46, is still the World Cup record goalscorer with 16 goals.

Or the current world star Mohamed Salah, who was a chance killer at the beginning of his time at FC Basel. Sforza: "And then suddenly something happened!"

So we're hoping for the so-called ketchup effect with Ndoye: first nothing happens for a long time, then suddenly everything happens. "I think the button will come off for him at this European Championship," says Sforza. Preferably as early as tonight in the thriller against Germany.

If Ndoye is not given a break by Murat Yakin, he will play. Because Ndoye has sprinted and dribbled his way to becoming a regular for the national team in 2024. He has been in the starting eleven in all six games this year. In the European Championship qualifiers, he was initially not in the squad at all, then only as a substitute.
