Michael Liniger's team managed to turn things around against Lukko Rauma with a 3:0 home win, two weeks after the 1:3 in Finland.

EV Zug stepped up the pace in the middle third and took care of the decision. Grégory Hofmann shone as a two-goal scorer. The 33-year-old made it 1:0 85 seconds after the first break and scored the 3:0 six seconds before the second break on the power play. In between, Tomas Tatar was responsible for Zug's second goal.

After Tatar's goal, which tied the overall score, Zug energetically sought the decision. Even before Hofmann was successful on the power play, he had had two good shots. The 3:0 was on the cards. The hosts defended their lead quite securely in the final period. Only in the final minutes was goalie Leonardo Genoni increasingly challenged.

The Zug team, which has three games in the National League between now and Saturday, continues its international campaign on January 13 or 14 with a home game against Swedish champions Lulea. The return game in northern Sweden will take place the following week. In a possible first final, the opponent would also come from Sweden. Brynäs and Frölunda Göteborg face each other in the other semi-final.

Three years ago, Zug was defeated in the semi-finals by eventual winners Tappara Tampere.
