Alex Parson est un énorme fan de Dolly Parton. A tel point que cet habitant du Tennessee milite avec une pétition lancée sur Change.org pour que la chanteuse soit honorée par des statues dans tout l'Etat, qui pourraient selon lui remplacer les monuments en hommage aux militaires confédérés qui divisent la population.

Un fan de Dolly Parton a lancé une pétition en ligne pour encourager des élus à remplacer des statues de personnalités confédérées par des monuments à la gloire de la reine de la country.

Alex Parsons, qui vit dans le Tennessee, a lancé la pétition sur Change.org, insistant pour que les institutions locales soutiennent son projet. « L'histoire ne doit pas être oubliée, mais nous n'avons pas besoin d'honorer ceux qui ne méritent pas nos compliments. A la place, je vous propose d'honorer une vraie héroïne du Tennessee, Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton a plus donné à ce pays et à cet Etat que ces officiers confédérés. Remplaçons les statues de ces hommes qui ont tenté de diviser le pays, avec un monument pour une femme qui a travaillé toute sa vie pour nous rapprocher », écrit-il sur le site.

Pour le moment, la pétition en faveur de Dolly Parton a été signée par plus de 16.000 personnes.
