Il compositore teatrale inglese si offre volontario per sperimentare una potenziale cura per il coronavirus.

Andrew Lloyd Webber parteciperà ad uno studio scientifico che avrà luogo giovedì (13ago20), in cui testerà personalmente il vaccino sperimentale per il Covid-19.

«Non sto nella pelle per il test sul vaccino antivirus Oxford Covid 19», ha scritto Webber sul suo profilo Twitter. «Farò tutto il possibile per far sì che i teatri possano riaprire in modo sicuro».

Il vaccino, sviluppato dagli scienziati dell’Università di Oxford, si chiama ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 e finora i risultati sono stati promettenti, secondo la BBC.

La crisi economica causata dalla pandemia ha inevitabilmente colpito cinema e teatri in Gran Bretagna, causando una perdita di milioni di sterline.

«Un’opera teatrale, in media, ha bisogno di un audience al 65% per sopravvivere, mentre un musical anche di più», ha dichiarato Webber alla BBC. «È tanto denaro e non possiamo stare così a lungo. Abbiamo raggiunto i nostri limiti massimi».

La riapertura delle sale è prevista per novembre, ma non è sicuro.

«Abbiamo bisogno di una data… ma non credo che il teatro sia al primo posto nella lista delle priorità del Governo».
